Freedom Fighters: The Ray Origin Story For Crisis X

The big Arrow-verse crossover of 2017 saw the heroes of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl unite to battle Nazi invaders from an alternate world known as Earth-X. Evil versions of Green Arrow and Supergirl led the invasionalong with Reverse Flash, and they wreaked a lot of havoc before the heroes were able to defeat them. The heroes never would have been able to defeat the Nazis if not for the help of a hero of Earth-X known as the Ray. The crossover didn't reveal the Ray's origin story or explain everything that happened on Earth-X to led to the invasion. Luckily, we have Freedom Fighters: The Ray to answer some leftover questions.Freedom Fighters: The Ray is an animated show courtesy of CW Seed that will fill in a lot of blanks from the Arrow-verse crossover, which ended simply with the Ray returning to Earth-X with a little help from Cisco's breaching abilities. The CW Seed series will deliver some answers to questions that linger after all the heroes went their separate ways back to their own shows.

It was announced a while ago that Supergirl star Melissa Benoist would lend her voice to the animated show as the villainous Overgirl, and the evil version of Green Arrow was set to appear. Given that the Arrow-verse crossover ended with Overgirl exploding due to an overload of solar radiation and Dark Arrow being shot to death by Oliver, it became clear that The Ray would have to be a prequel series. The action of The Ray is intense right off the bat, and viewers will get a look at even more Earth-X heroes than appeared in the big crossover. The crossover only spent a short amount of time on Earth-X, and we never got to see the real scale of the Nazi occupation of the world. The Ray definitely adds scale and ups the ante on the constant danger of Earth-X, although there is a certain sense of dread in the fact that several of the starring characters did not appear in live-action along with the Ray himself.

All of this said, Freedom Fighters: The Ray may have had much more appeal if it had been released prior to the Arrow-verse crossover. We already know that the Ray will survive the action of the animated series, and we already know that the Freedom Fighters will not be able to stop Overgirl, Dark Arrow, and Reverse Flash. An earlier release could have amped up the anticipation for the crossover and given a look at Earth-X so that fewer blanks would need to be filled in. The Ray works as a prequel released after the crossover, but it might have been a lot more exciting if released before the Earth-X Nazis ever appeared in live action.

Constantine to debut in The legends of tomorrow Season 3.

Whats you thought?

According to a release by Warner Bros., Matt Ryan will reprise his role as Constantine in the third season of Legends of Tomorrow. The character will have a part in episodes nine and ten. No other details were given about the hero’s role in the series, but fans can look forward to seeing an extended storyline for the character.

It's been reported Constantine would be coming to the #Arrowverse last week during New York Comic Con. The announcement is one that fans have been waiting for after NBC cancelled its Constantine series. The show, which aired between 2014 - 2015, was a cult hit with fans but failed to draw in widespread ratings. Audiences had hoped The CW would pick up the series and add it to its on-going slate of Arrowverse series, but the dream never came true. After a short bit on Arrow in 2015, John Constantine faded away from the franchise. That is, until now.

Fans have long suspected that Constantine would show up on Legends of Tomorrow, and they only became more suspicious when showrunner Phil Klemmer told audiences it would be a “crime” to keep the hero out of the show. Recently, the producer even told Rotten Tomatoes that the hero will appear in season three to do “an exorcism,” so the show’s gang will likely come face-to-face with some supernatural threat soon that requires Constantine’s expertise.

If you are not familiar with Constantine, then you have a bit of history to catch up on. The hero first appeared under DC Comics during a run of Swamp Thing, but the hero proved popular enough to get his own series. John Constantine is a working-class occult detective and unparalleled con man who’s known for his cynical wit. Despite his gruff attitude, Constantine is known for his humanitarian interests as the detective continues his dangerous work to help others who are being plagued by all things supernatural.

Legends of Tomorrow returns on October, 10th.

HBO's Watchmen TV Show Begins

The last update we got on the new Watchmen TV series from HBO is that it may not happen, with Damon Lindelof stating that he didn't have any meetings at HBO about a Watchmen series, although that has seemingly changed. While we haven't heard anything about this series in the past two months, Damon Lindelof took to social media to tease that production has seemingly gotten under way on this Watchmen show. While there is likely a long way to go before this series debuts on HBO, it seems to be finally moving forward.

In the comics, the statue in question was given to Hollis Mason, the original Nite Owl, during the ceremony for his retirement in 1962. Just over two decades later, that very same statue was used by a gang called the Knot Tops, to kill him, after the gang believed that he helped Silk Spectre break Rorshach out of jail, when it was really the second Nite Owl, Dan Dreiberg. In the 2009 movie adaptation, directed by Zack Snyder, Hollis Mason's death was not shown in the theatrical cut, although it was released as part of the deleted scenes on the home video version.

The inclusion of this statue in Damon Lindelof's photo could mean anything. It could mean this HBO superhero series is in fact following the events of the primary comic, which will show this statue being used to kill Hollis Mason. It could also signify the crimefighting career that Hollis Mason had as the Nite Owl that earned him this statue, meaning that the show could follow the Before Watchmen comics. Regardless, the series is getting under way, and hopefully we'll have more details soon.

Justice League

CYBORG’S STORY IS THE ‘HEART’ OF JUSTICE LEAGUE

Obviously Justice League will deal with the team forming, as Bruce Wayne seeks to recruit more meta humans to defend our planet in the wake of Superman's "death" in Dawn of Justice. The trailer that Zack Snyder brought to San Diego Comic-Con suggested that Wonder Woman and Batman will recruit Cyborg, The Flash and Aquaman for a team that eventually will include a resurrected Kal-El. #Spoilers. Sorry. Their mission will involve Motherboxes, parademons and a villain that we will explore in an upcoming section, Just like in the prequel animated movie Justice league war. In the animated series you'll notice there's a slight league recruit compared to the Movie were Green Lantern and Shazam are yet to be invited to join the Justice League maybe in the future to face off a greater villain.

Like Aquaman and Flash, Cyborg was the subject of one of Lex Luthor's metahuman files. Just like his comic book counterpart, his body was almost destroyed in a tragic accident, and his father, scientist Silas Stone, was at a loss as to how to heal him. He finally found the key in a Mother Box, an alien supercomputer used on New Genesis and Apokolips, which reformed a new body for Victor and turned him into Cyborg. Now Victor has all sorts of high tech tools and weaponries on his person, but the Mother Box in his system may hold the key to defeating whatever threat the Justice League has to defeat in the near future.
